Rev. Steve Emmett, Ph.D., (Chair) Unitarian minister and private practice therapist in Scituate, MA and Providence, RI and head of the Anorexia & Bulimia Association of Rhode Island. Has been a board member of the National Eating Disorders Association, co-founded the Renfrew Center, and edited the book Theory and Treatment of Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia: Biomedical, Sociocultural, and Psychological Perspectives.

Margo Maine, Ph.D. (Vice Chair),clinical psychologist specializing in eating disorders for over 25 years who serves as the Consulting Director of eating disorders treatment at the Institute of Living in Hartford, CT. Author of The Body Myth, Body Wars and Father Hunger. Senior Editor of Eating Disorders: The Journal of Treatment and Prevention, past President of the National Eating Disorder Association, and Trustee of the Eating Disorder Coalition for Research, Policy and Action.

Courtney Carter, Manager of Business Development for Soccer United Marketing/Major League Soccer.

Carolyn Costin, M.A., M.Ed., MFT, Carolyn is the founder and Executive Director of The Monte Nido Treatment Center for eating disorders. She is also a marriage and family therapist and the author of The Eating Disorder Sourcebook and Your Dieting Daughter.

Laurie Harbert is a full-time mother of three daughters. She is a former Board member of P.S. Arts, former Vice Chair of the United Jewish Fund, and is an active volunteer for the Girl Scouts, Phase One, and the Ronald McDonald House.

Kelly Parisi, Vice President of Communications for the American Federation for the Blind in NY.  She provides leadership and direction in the development, implementation and monitoring of communication strategies in support of AFB's strategic plan.  Currently chairs the Communications & Marketing Committee of the National Assembly and sits on the Communications Advisory Committee of the NY Regional Assn. of Grantmakers.

Bob Stien, Long-time volunteer fathering and environmental educator for the 92nd Street YMHA and EPIC (Every Person Influences Children) in New York City. Runs summer outdoor education programs for the Hudson River Explorers. A divorced dad and business owner, Bob is also organizer of the New York Fathers Conference.

Michael Kieschnick, Ph.D. (Honorary Member), Founder of Dads and Daughters and Co-Founder and President of Working Assets, a long distance, wireless and credit card company that donates a portion of its revenues to progressive nonprofits. Former economist for the EPA and Governor of California, Michael is also author of Venture Capital and Urban Development and Credit Where It's Due: Development Banking for Communities.

Kathy Kater, LICSW (St. Paul, MN), psychotherapist and eating disorders specialist. Author of Real Kids Come in All Sizes: 10 Essential Lessons to Build Your Child’s Body Esteem and Healthy Body Image: Teaching Kids to Eat and Love Their Bodies, Too!

Jackson Katz, Ed.M. (Long Beach, CA), Director of the US Marine Corps Gender Violence Prevention Program, Co-Founder of Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP), host of the videos Tough Guise: Media Images and the Crisis on Masculinity and Wrestling with Manhood, and author of The Macho Paradox.

Jean Kilbourne, Ed.D. (Boston), Wellesley College Visiting Scholar. Known for documentaries, including Killing Us Softly and Slim Hopes. She is a former Board Member of Dads & Daughters, and served on the National Advisory Council on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.

Michael Kimmel, Ph.D. (Brooklyn), Professor of Sociology, SUNY-Stony Brook and author/editor of numerous books on men and masculinity including The Gendered Society and Manhood in America.

William C. Klatte, MSW (Milwaukee), Therapist and author of Live Away Dads: Staying Part of Your Children's Lives When They Aren't a Part of Your Home.

William Klein (Silver Spring, MD), Marketing, public relations, and political consultant.

David J. Pate, Ph.D. (Madison, WI), Executive Director and Founder of the Center for Family Policy and Practice. Leading public policy advocate for minority and low-income fathers.

Sally Ride, Ph.D. (San Diego), Professor of Physics at the University of California-San Diego and member of National Women’s Hall of Fame. First US woman in space, and Founder of Imaginary Lines and Sally Ride Space Camps, which encourage girls’ interest in technology.

David Sadker, Ed.D., (Bethesda, MD), Professor of Education at American University, Washington, DC. Pioneered much of the research documenting gender bias in America's schools with his late wife, Dr. Myra Pollack Sadker. They wrote the best-selling book, Failing at Fairness: How America's Schools Shortchange Girls and the widely used introductory teacher education textbook, Teachers, Schools and Society.

Don Streufert, Ph.D. (Duluth, MN), Founder, Center for Reducing Rural Violence, and psychotherapist in private practice. Became a leader of the restorative justice movement after one of his daughters was abducted, raped and murdered.

In 2004, Americans spent $12.4 billion (yes, billion!) on cosmetic surgery. The real costs of our obsession with youth, beauty and a slender physique are tallied in an epidemic of eating disorders, complications and deaths from unnecessary surgeries, exposure to dangerous toxins in cosmetics, and the equally toxic effects on a generation of young people who are told–in some 40,000 media messages a year–that unless you look like the supermodels and rock stars, you’re not good enough for anyone to love. It’s a message too many of them are buying.
